Each year students in our classroom prepare posters for the FVL Schools contest. Technically, it is a 4th grade contest, however posters are allowed from other grades even though they are not eligible for the grand prize. Of the 19 participating schools, a student from our school has again been chosen as the Overall Grand Prize winner. We're excited that our 4th graders have won two years in a row with Madison Edinger as last year's winner and Grace Reschke as this year's winner. Even more exciting for this year, is that every 4th grader received an honor for their poster this year. The pictures below show Grace's award winning poster along with the other honored 4th grade posters.

Many of our parents will not be at the Grandparents' Day performance so I wanted to post a picture of what your children have created for their grandparent gift. We also want to thank Cheryl Uitenbroek and Laura Bartoszek for the craft idea, supplies, and finishing work on these projects. I believe you'll agree that great team effort has produced a very personal and beautiful memento for the grandparents! (The trivets picture above are samples of student work. Although they are not all in this picture, each student created two or more of these for their grand people.
You may have noticed that the students have been bringing home little to no homework each night. This is due to the large amount of time that we have spent preparing for Grandparents' Day. The following picture gives you a taste of what you'll see and hear next Friday. We're thankful that the 4th graders were willing to use their talents to create our bulletin covering. We think it looks awesome...better than anything we would have purchased pre-made!
We watched this video today and would love for you to see it too. We watched this video to remind ourselves of the events of Holy Week and to recall how Jesus reacted to his enemies and those who treated him poorly. This video and subsequent devotion introduced the theme for our Christ Light lesson today. Be sure to ask your child what the Bible tells about revenge and how we should treat our enemies. More importantly, be sure to discuss often with your child what Jesus has done for us and how we benefit.
