We had a lot of fun with our friends in 3 year old preschool. We enjoyed doing some action painting outside and using the computer to do some action painting. We look forward to more projects with our new friends.

Have your child share this video with you to start a conversation on what they learned in Christ Light. You do not need to purchase this video even though it looks like you do. You can watch the preview version. http://www.worshiphousemedia.com/mini-movies/16034/Mary-And-Elizabeth The following two links introduced today's 4th grade math lesson. I'm excited to announce that we have upgraded our AR software so now the students have access to over 150,000 titles for quizzes. They can still use the books available at school, but in addition to that they may obtain books from home, the library, wherever...and can use those for their independent reading assignments. Right now, until they take their STAR reading assessmen,t they should read books that are leveled 2, 3, 4, or 5. They will have their individualized scores later. To find out if a book is on the AR list, go to www.arbookfind.com. This site will also give you information on the book's level and point value. Feel free to schedule an appointment with me if you would like me to show you the new AR and how it works in person.
Click on the button below to view the student welcome letter for this year! A copy will be handed out at orientation, however this one can be viewed now for students who will not be able to attend tonight!
I look forward to meeting briefly with all parents tomorrow at 6:00 P.M. Our meeting will be brief since all of you had me as your child's teacher last year. Come with any questions or suggestions you may have for the new school year. I'm excited to get started on the 2012-2013 school year. I think your children are going to be super excited about our field trips this year and the changes we're making to AR!
Students in 3-4th grade must follow the school late work policy. When students begin 3rd grade, they are given consequences for late work. As of late, that has occurred rarely and instead we have the opportunity to recognize the students who have made extra efforts in completing their work on time. All students in 3-4th grade have done well in completing their work on time. The following students have been recognized for faithfully completing their assignment book and have not had any late work other than using their free ticket. Congratulations to Alexis Schmidt, Alexa Leick, Mason Pencil, Grace Reschke, Emily Fehlauer, and Hayden Block! (There was not any late work in 4th grade this year! Amazing!)
Kane is pretty excited about constructing and decorating his house for science class. Right now they are building the houses, painting, and adding details. Later, they will be adding the wiring and lights to their home as part of their electricity and circuits unit. Below are a few pictures Kane has been taking with his digital camera to show the steps in his process. The members of his group are Alexa, Alexis, and Levi.
1) Please make sure that your child is current with AR. E-mail if you are unsure. Your child will know if they are on track or not though. Some students are in need of some extra reading time at home to catch up.
2) Grandparents' Day is Friday. Your child does not need to bring a lunch that day and they will be released to the grandparent or other special person following lunch. 3) All students are expected to attend the 6:00 P.M. show that night as well for the friends and family performance. 4) Each child should be wearing anything red, white, and/or blue for that day. They will also be wearing a hat/tiara and a vest. 5) Spelling tests need to be taken on or before Thursday this week. Since the deadline is earlier, 3-4th graders have a shorter list. Each year students in our classroom prepare posters for the FVL Schools contest. Technically, it is a 4th grade contest, however posters are allowed from other grades even though they are not eligible for the grand prize. Of the 19 participating schools, a student from our school has again been chosen as the Overall Grand Prize winner. We're excited that our 4th graders have won two years in a row with Madison Edinger as last year's winner and Grace Reschke as this year's winner. Even more exciting for this year, is that every 4th grader received an honor for their poster this year. The pictures below show Grace's award winning poster along with the other honored 4th grade posters.
